Two 15-year-old boys have been arrested after a jogger was knocked down in a park by an off-road motorcycle.

The female runner suffered serious injuries in Poolsbrook Country Park in Chesterfield at about 19:20 BST on 15 April and was taken to hospital.

Derbyshire Police said the rider left the scene but officers arrested two boys on Tuesday on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without a licence and using a vehicle without insurance.

The teenagers have been released on bail while investigations continue and two off-road motorcycles have been seized by police, who have appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

Sgt Rachel Kent, of the local safer neighbourhood team, said: "We want to be clear that the dangerous and illegal use of off-road bikes will not be tolerated.

"We are working hard with partners to tackle this issue and make our communities safe and enjoyable for all."
