Security is being increased at Home Park for Plymouth Argyle's match against Leeds United on Saturday, police said.

Leeds United, who have already confirmed promotion to the Premier League, have sold out the away end at Home Park as they try to secure the league title.

Police said the away end at Home Park stadium would open at 09:00 GMT with food and refreshments available but there were no pubs for away fans within walking distance of the stadium.

Plymouth Argyle said that, due to the number of Leeds fans expected in Plymouth, the club had implemented an "outer ring" to aid security.

It also warned supporters that it was a criminal offence to enter the pitch, and that anyone who did so could be prosecuted.

Large police presence

Devon and Cornwall Police said it was expecting thousands of away fans to travel to Devon for the 12.30 GMT kick-off.

Superintendent Emma Butler-Jones of Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are expecting a large number of Leeds United fans in Devon as they hope to celebrate the league title.

"There will be a larger than usual police presence around the stadium to ensure that supporters of both teams are able to enjoy the match in a safe environment.

"Fans without tickets are advised to stay away from the stadium area as they will not gain access.

"There are no pubs for away fans within walking distance of the stadium, but visiting supporters will be able to gain access to the away area several hours before kick-off.

"We hope all supporters enjoy the game."
