Primary school teachers Katie and Matt tell you three of their best classroom stories.
Katie: Hi I'm Katie, I'm reception teacher.
Matt: I'm Matt, and I teach from reception all the way to Year 6, as a cover supervisor.
Katie: And here are some of our teachers' tales.
Katie: We in our classroom, we changed our role play area into a dinosaur cave, to fit in with our topic on dinosaurs. And they were, one afternoon they were all playing in there and one kid comes up to me and says, 'Oh miss, miss, miss, a dinosaur's done a poo in the cave'. We were like 'oh gosh', thinking they were role playing and we went there and there was an actual poo in the cave.
Matt: An actual poo.
Katie: Yes, yes, so a child had pooed in the cave.
Matt: There's a little boy in Year 1 and he, we were teaching them about commutative addition and that, so if two plus one is three, then one plus two is also three as well and he had gone off and we'd done lots of this, and he had gone off all by himself and he came up with the whiteboard, that just said fart plus bum equals bum plus fart. And the only response I could do was just give him a high five and tell him to go off and do some more.
Katie: Ten out of ten.
Matt: Yeah.
Katie: It's like one little boy in my class, and we were doing literacy, we were talking about our story and he puts his hand up and went 'Don't buy fancy shoes for camels'. So, that was the moral of the day. I think I lost everyone then.
Matt: Yeah, well you shouldn't buy fancy shoes for camels, they don't treat them right and they damage them in the sand.
Katie: It's just a bad idea, isn't it?
Matt: Yeah
