Mariah, 20, developed acne like many other teenagers when she was 11 or 12 years old.
But when she was 19, it started to get much worse. She was diagnosed with a very severe form of acne called acne conglobata.
She decided to share her acne journey on Instagram and was overwhelmed by the kindness and support she received.
She told BBC Bitesize how sharing her story helped her embrace what she went through, instead of feeling like she had to hide.

Mariah said sharing her story made her a stronger person and she hopes to help other people who may be in a similar situation feel less alone.

Where to find support
Having trouble with your skin can have a negative effect on your confidence and it’s important to find support in any way you feel comfortable - whether that be seeing people who have experienced similar things, or speaking to friends and family.
