What is Easter?

Part of Understanding the WorldReligions, festivals and celebrations

Easter is a Christian festival that celebrates new life.

Easter happens every March or April. It is always on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring.

Christians believe that Jesus died on Good Friday and then rose from the dead on Easter Sunday. This is why they celebrate new life at Easter.

Find out how Liberty's family celebrate Easter in this My First Festivals video.
