We are all part of a number of communities - such as the area where we live, our school or a sports club we go to.
Pip and Declan are finding out all about the different communities they are part of in this video.

MUSIC
Declan is painting at an easel. Pip comes running in.
PIP: Hey Declan! What you doing?
DECLAN: Hey Pip. I’m doing some work for my after school club!
PIP: Wow! Is that like homework? I don’t think I’ve been given a homework in art class before.
DECLAN: No, but this isn’t homework. This is for fun. Lots of kids from different art classes come to the art club and we make stuff together.
PIP: Wow, that sounds like my karate club. I have a yellow belt.
DING
NARRATOR: Yes Pip, what you and Declan are part of is a community. There are lots of different types of communities, for example, your school.
The narrator talks about communities while we see animations of children and staff in school, communities around the world, and a school that's in a city.
NARRATOR: Your school is made up of lots of people, including, the kids in your class, the kids in other classes, the teachers and other staff members, like the school caretaker and the canteen staff.
NARRATOR: There are lot of different types of communities all around the world, that even you are a part of. Your school is part of a larger community - your town or city, and that is part of an even bigger community. We all have a part to play in the communities that we are a part of.
DING
PIP: I had no idea I was a part of so many different communities!
DECLAN: Mmm, being part of a community helps us all get along and work together.
PIP: One day I will have my black belt in Karate, and my karate community will be sooo proud of me. See you later Declan. Enjoy art club!
DECLAN: Thanks Pip, enjoy karate!
MUSIC
Pip leaves and Declan carries on painting.
DECLAN: Hmm, what does it need…
