Behaviour towards others
We’re all able to make a choice in how we behave towards others.
We can choose to be kind and helpful, or we could act in a way that is mean and unkind.
Learn why treating everyone with kindness is important in our community.
Lucy: Ah, what a lovely day.
Harry and Mo: Huzzah!
Ariana: Sir Harry and Sir Mo!
Harry: We have brought you gold from a dragon's cave.
Becky: Roar! It was actually a dinosaur's cave.
Harry: Err, Becky…why are you wearing that? You look silly.
Becky: I like dinosaurs.
Ariana: Well, you have to dress up as a princess if you want to be in our club.
Lucy: Yeah, no stupid dinosaurs allowed!
Mo: Hey, that wasn't very nice. You've upset Becky.
Max: What's happened?
Mo: We were playing knights and princesses and Becky dressed up as a dinosaur instead of a princess. Harry, Ariana and Lucy said she looked silly and didn't let her join in.
Max: Listen, teasing and bullying hurts people's feelings and everyone has the right to wear what they want at Community Club.Especially at dress up - it should be fun for everybody.
Everyone has the right to feel safe to be who they are and to be included. As responsible citizens, we must remember that mean words and actions take away other people's rights to feel safe. So they might not be able to do the things they want to do.
Harry: Sorry I said you looked silly.
Lucy and Ariana: Yes, sorry we left you out.
Mo: You make a really cool dinosaur.
Lucy: It's Sir Mo and Sir Harry!
Harry: We are no longer knights but…pirates!
Harry and Mo: Give us your gold!
Lucy: Well, if you want our gold, you must defeat…
Lucy and Ariana: Princess Beatrix Rex!
Becky: Roar!

How can we get help to deal with bullying?
If you or someone you know is being bullied there are things you can do to try and stop it.
- Tell an adult - this could be your parent, carer or teacher.
- Talk to the bully - ask the bully to stop.
- Be with friends you trust - surround yourself with people that treat you well.

Time to discuss
Talk about bullying with a friend or family member.
Think about these questions as you talk:
How do you think people feel when others make fun of them for how they look?
How should we treat people instead?

Activity
Make a 'goodwill heart'
With the help of an adult, cut out the shape of a heart from a piece of paper.
Draw and write inside the shape some kind words and actions that you can think of.
Put your finished goodwill heart somewhere you can see it, or share it with a friend.
