Using adjectives to describe your room - colours
You can add more information about your bedroom furniture by including colours.

The colour must go after the furniture items, as colours are adjectives. The colours must also agree with the nouns, and many change when they are feminine or plural. The exceptions are: marron (brown) and orange (orange) which do NOT change.

Using prepositions to describe where things are in your room
A preposition of place describes where something is in relation to something else. Here are some useful prepositions of place you can use to describe where things are in your room:

French | English |
---|---|
dans | in |
sur | on |
entre … et | between … and |
devant | in front of |
à côté de | next to |
sous | under |
derrière | behind |
en face de | opposite |
Prepositions with de often need to be followed with a definite article:
With masculine singular nouns, de + le becomes du.
With plural nouns, de + les becomes des.
Before a vowel or silent h, de becomes d’.
For example:
La table est à côté du lit – The table is next to the bed
L’armoire est à droite de la lampe – The wardrobe is to the right of the lamp
