Aria and Jasper are playing pirates a play. Will the drama go smoothly, or will a crashing pirate ship be disastrous?
Disastrous drama!
The stage scene is empty except for Aria and Jasper who are on stage dressed in pirate hats, looking around very bored.
You’re acting like bored pirates.
Aria and Jasper look surprised.
And now you’re acting like surprised pirates.
Acting can tell us more about the character you’re pretending to be.
Aria and Jasper pass a pretend telescope between each other looking out to sea.
You’ve got the costume ready. So let’s improvise, that means make it up as we go along.
Director, if you could help out with some props for the scene please!
The teacher throws in props of palm trees, campfire, a treasure chest.
You’re searching for treasure on a desert island…
Aria and Jasper hold up a prop map and glance over to the treasure chest.
The lights dim and become blue as if it is night.
…but it’s night-time and there’s a freezing chill in the air, brrrrrr.
Aria and Jasper huddle together pretending to shiver.
Oh look the sun has risen and it’s soooo bright. Now you’re tired and hot, what a plot twist. Amazing performance.
What’s that in the distance… a pirate ship, it’s sailing in fast.
A rumbling can be heard and Aria and Jasper look on in terror.
Wow what an exciting and moving performance.
Here comes the big finale.
The teacher comes crashing in on a pretend pirate ship.
The props tumble around leaving Aria and Jasper stood in the middle of the stage.
The teacher’s arm is poking up above the pile of props, waving a small jolly roger flag.
The treasure chest is the last prop to fall which spills over, and a large ruby lands at Aria and Jasper’s feet.
Aria and Jasper smile as they pick up the ruby, then do a pirate arm movement.
