- Wales is one of the four countries of the UK.
- It is on the island called Great Britain, with England and Scotland.
- Wales has a coastline on the Irish Sea.

What is Wales's capital city?
- The capital of Wales is Cardiff.
- A famous landmark in Cardiff is the medieval Cardiff Castle. It is a motte and bailey castle. This means it is on a hill and has a courtyard.
- Other important cities in Wales include Newport and Swansea.

Blue Lagoon in Wales.
- The highest mountain is Mount Snowdon. Other important mountain ranges are the Cambrian Mountains and the Brecon Beacons.
- The longest river in the UK runs between Wales and England. It is called the River Severn.
- The Blue Lagoon is a human-made pool in an old quarry by the sea. It is famous for its bright blue colour. It is like this because of the slate beneath and around the water.
- Tintern Abbey is a church founded in 1131, almost one thousand years ago. A poet called William Wordsworth wrote a famous poem about it.
