1: Lighthouse of Alexandria
Built in Ancient Egypt around 280 BC, this huge tower was not only bright, but it was also over 330 feet tall! For many centuries it was the tallest man-made structure in the world.
Slight problem... there are a lot of earthquakes, and after the third, it was abandoned as a ruin.

2: Statue of Zeus at Olympia
Built in Ancient Greece around 435 BC, this giant statue was made to look like Zeus, the god of thunder and the sky.
The statue was lost and destroyed at the end of the 6th century AD, but we know about it because it was shown on a whole lot of ancient Greek coins. Cool!

3: Great Pyramid of Giza
The largest Egyptian pyramid ever was built in 2600 BC and is the only one of the seven ancient wonders that’s not in ruins. You can still visit it today in its full glory!
It was the tallest man-made structure for more than 3,800 years (even older than Rattus Rattus!) and weighs about 6 million tonnes.
It's the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu, who obviously wanted somewhere pretty secure for his final resting day... I wonder how many bathrooms it has?

4: Colossus of Rhodes
Built around 280 BC, this massive statue of the Greek sun god Helios was what sailors would ride under when entering the harbour at Rhodes.
But even this statue couldn't stand upright for long and crumbled after being hit by an earthquake (which seems to be the way most of these wonders go!).

5: Hanging Gardens of Babylon
You better have a green thumb to keep this one alive, because the Hanging Gardens were apparently a tied garden covered in trees, plants, bushes and flowers.
We'd love to tell you when it was built and how it was destroyed, but this is the only wonder on the list that we aren't sure actually existed. Archaeologists haven't even found any ruins yet!
According to some writings, it would have had olives, pears, figs, almonds, grapes and dates - You could have a feast there for brekkie, lunch or even dinner!

6: Temple of Artemis
Built in honour of the goddess Artemis (sometimes known to the Romans as Diana), this temple was very pretty and absolutely massive!
This temple was destroyed and rebuilt many times; it fell victim to both a fire and a flood.

7: Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
Build around 353 BC, this huge tomb was around 148 feet high, and was surrounded by many pillars.
The word "mausoleum" comes from this wonder, it was so amazing that people started building their own versions and calling them mausoleums.
Guess how this one got destroyed... that's right, earthquakes!
