A 17-year-old boy is in hospital with "life-threatening" injuries after being stabbed.

Police were called to Phoenix Park in Hemlington, Middlesbrough, at about 00:40 BST following reports the teenager had suffered "multiple" knife wounds.

Two males aged 17 and 18 have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and drugs offences, Cleveland Police said.

The force said an investigation was in its early stages and officers were patrolling the area to reassure residents.

Det Insp Matt Hollingsworth said: "various enquiries" were ongoing and appealed to anyone with information or has CCTV or dash cam footage.
