A man has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving over the death of a 14-year-old boy who was killed in a crash on the M6.
The boy, from Morecambe, Lancashire, who cannot be named for legal reasons, died on 20 April after the Peugeot van in which he was a passenger left the southbound carriageway between junctions 34 and 33 and crashed into a tree.
Daniel Burba, 31, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
Mr Burba, of Arnside Crescent, has also been charged with causing death by driving whilst unlicensed and uninsured. He was remanded to appear at Preston Crown Court on 27 May.
A tribute issued by the boy's family described the teenager as "our precious boy".
They added that he was "such a beautiful soul and so far from typical".
"Words can't express how much we have loved and cherished him and how much we always will," they said.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, said Lancashire Police.
