One-year-old girl dies after crash at campsite
A one-year-old girl has died after being hit by a vehicle at a camp site.
There was a significant emergency service response at Bryn Gloch caravan and campsite in Betws Garmon near Caernarfon, Gwynedd at 10:20 BST on Monday.
The child was airlifted to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool but died on Monday afternoon, North Wales Police said.
The force added an investigation had been launched and the girl's family was being supported "at this extremely difficult time".
Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping site's managing director said in a statement it was "greatly saddened by the tragic incident".
"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and all those affected by this devastating event," Mark Roberts said.
"The safety and wellbeing of our guests are of utmost importance to us, and we will be giving our full co-operation to the authorities involved with the investigation of this matter," he added.
Councilor Edgar Wyn Owen, who represents the Waunfawr, Rhyd Ddu and Betws Garmon ward on Gwynedd Council, said the incident was "very sad".
"You don't expect your child to go before you, especially a one-year-old."
BBC reporter at the scene, George Herd, said both staff and visitors "have been deeply upset by today's events in such a quiet, small, rural village".
The coroner has been informed over the death while inquiries continue.
