Sugababes: ‘We got together when we were 12 and 13. We grew up together'
The Sugababes joined Nuala McGovern in the Woman’s Hour studio on Tuesday as they celebrated the release of their latest single, Jungle, before their UK and Ireland tour starts next month.
Since their formation in 1998, the Sugababes have achieved six number-one singles, been nominated for six Brit Awards and, in 2003, won the Best British Dance Act at the Brits.
They’re firmly part of British pop culture, and, in the past 26 years, the band has changed shape and members. But, in 2019, the original three reunited: “We’re re-writing the history”, Keisha Buchanan told Nuala.
Looking back on a career that started when they were entering their teenage years, Keisha, Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy spoke to Nuala about returning to the industry with deep friendships and new families - and how they’re not afraid of the fame this time.
You can listen to the full interview on BBC Sounds - it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 18 March.
