Safer Internet Day 2023 – Live Lesson

Watch our new Safer Internet Day 2025 Live Lesson on this page.

Teachers, gather your 7-11 year olds as we develop a new video game and defeat evil villain Master Malware!

Guided by CBBC presenter Joe Tasker and Blue Peter’s Mwaksy Mudenda, in this lesson we challenge your pupils to solve safety issues in our fictional ‘Digital Defence Squad’ game, and unlock advice from famous gamers and cyber savvy celebrities.

We also explore some of the risks of online gaming, ask children their thoughts on how to stay safe online and share practical tips and support from BBC Own It.

This fun, interactive curriculum-linked programme was filmed on location at the National Videogame Museum in Sheffield and is designed to support PSHE, Relationships Education and Digital Literacy learning objectives.

Safer Internet Day 2023 was co-ordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre in partnership with Childnet and the theme was: Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online.

Please note that this lesson was published in February 2023 and we are no longer reviewing emails and messages from schools for inclusion in the lesson.
