Hats are fun to wear and great for hiding things under. Lots of opportunities for discovery! If your baby is wary of the hat at first, try it on yourself. This shows your baby that even when you look different you're still you. Touching the hat or chewing the hat is your baby's way of finding out about new things. Hat. Say the word "hat" as you play and tell your baby what you're doing. Say "hat on" and "hat off". By repeating words, your baby will start to connect the words with the actions. Try hiding behind the hat and then say "peekaboo!" Where is he? Boo! This shows your babythat you're still there even when they can't see you.
Hats can be a lot of fun - they can be worn or used for games like peekaboo.
The Baby Club’s Nigel Clarke encourages parents and carers to explore a hat with babies.
