She bought a quarter of the tickets and you bought a third of those.

So you multiply the two numerators together and then multiply the 2 denominators together.

So you have one twelfth of all the tickets.

Whereas you had a quarter of the tickets, but you sold 1 third of them so you have 2 thirds of a quarter of the tickets left, that's 2 twelfths.
