Learn how to take part in the Throw Clap activity with help from primary school teacher, Danny Denholm.
DANNY Hey, I'm Danny and welcome to Let's Do This, where we will get active together.
This activity is called Throw Clap.
This game is great for developing your coordination and fluency and your rhythm and timing.
You will need a balloon, a ball or a bean bag.
You can do this on your own, so you're stuck with me showing you how to do it first.
Step one.
Start this activity with a balloon.
Step two.
Throw the balloon in the air as high as your head.
Step three.
Clap your hands as many times as you can before catching it.
Now, let’s do this.
NARRATOR Too tough?
DANNY If you find this tricky, start by just throwing and catching the balloon.
If you can then manage that, try clapping once, then twice and build up gradually.
NARRATOR Danny’s Challenge
DANNY For my challenge, set yourself a target of at least five claps before catching.
You could then increase the number of claps each time you try.
NARRATOR Final thoughts.
DANNY Fantastic effort once again.
I love this game as there are so many ways you can adapt and change it.
How will you adapt it?

Make it easier
We are all unique and have different strengths and skills. Some of us may find some skills easier than others but we can all develop and improve.
You can adapt Throw Clap to make it easier. The most important things are giving it a go and having fun!
Make it easier
Try these tips to make the activity a bit easier.
- Try throwing and catching the balloon, ball or other object without clapping.
- You can add in a single clap and build it up gradually.
Danny's challenge
Set yourself a target of at least five claps before catching.
Try to add in more claps every time.
