Female hairdresser, blonde hair: If we have promotions in the salon, say like 20 percent off your haircut, I'd then need to work out exactly what 20 percent off the haircut is.
Male chef, blonde hair, white apron: We normally allow between five and ten percent for extra people or spillages, or dropping the desert or something, just so we've got spare.
Male retail worker, black hair, stripy shirt: We have a suit here, which is sold at £300.
At the moment there's a promotion, which is 50 percent off, so the client can by this for £150, instead of the £300, giving a saving of 50 percent.
Percentage is way of representing an amount of something, so 50% equals a half. Percentages can have values of between 0% and 100%.
