Self-employment

Self-employment is when you work for yourself and not for a particular employer. One type of self-employment is when you are an independent business owner. Another is as a freelancer, where you offer service and expertise to a company.

Some advantages of self-employment are that you have the freedom to decide which projects to work on and what hours you work. The disadvantages are that you're not entitled to certain benefits such as paid days off, and that you are responsible for paying your own taxes.
