Learn how to take part in the Bean Bag Golf activity with help from primary school teacher, Danny Denholm.
DANNY Hey, I'm Danny, and welcome to Let's Do This, where we all get active together.
This activity is called Bean Bag Golf. This activity helps you with your aim and accuracy and your counting.
So it will test you both physically and mentally.
You will need a flat mat, cone or other objects to mark out your starting position.
A hoop, a bucket or box for your target.
And a bean bag, softball or rolled up socks for throwing.
You can do this one by yourself, so I will show you how it's done.
Step one. You may need a bit of space for this game.
Set up a flat mat or cone as your starting point and place your target several big steps away.
Step two. Stand at your starting point and throw the bean bag, softball or rolled up socks at the target.
I'm using a bean bag today.
Step three.
If you miss, move to where the bean bag landed.
Take your next throw from here.
The aim of the game is to get it into the target in as few throws as possible.
Step four. Once you get the bean bag in the target, count how many throws it took you to get there.
That will be your score.
Now, let's do this.
NARRATOR Too tough?
DANNY Too tricky?
Try using a larger target so it is easier.
You could also shorten the distance between you and the target.
Give it a go.
NARRATOR Go up a notch?
DANNY Want to go up a level?
Here are a couple of things you can try out.
Make the target smaller, meaning your throw needs to be really accurate.
Or you can move the target even further away from the starting point.
This is great for improving your accuracy and aim.
Now you give it a try.
NARRATOR Danny’s challenge
DANNY Set yourself a target for how many throws you want to complete the activity in.
Can you try to hit the target with one throw?
Like a hole in one in golf?
Record your throws on a whiteboard or pen and paper.
What will your best score be?
NARRATOR Final thoughts
Bean bag golf is a great way to improve your aim and accuracy but it also get your brain working as you count your scores.
