Practical arrangements

You may need to make some practical arrangements. Read this dialogue in which two people discuss going to the quiz evening. Pay attention to where they will meet – cyfarfod – and what they will wear – gwisgo.

Rhian

Wyt ti eisiau dod i’r noson gwis?

Emma

O, ydw, diolch i ti am y gwahoddiad.

Rhian

Ble wyt ti eisiau cyfarfod?

Emma

Beth am wrth yr arhosfan?

Rhian

Iawn. Faint o’r gloch?

Emma

Mae’r bws yn cyrraedd tua chwarter i wyth dw i’n meddwl.

Rhian

Perffaith! Chwarter i wyth wrth yr arhosfan.

Emma

Beth wyt ti’n mynd i wisgo i’r noson gwis?

Rhian

Jîns a siwmper, dw i’n meddwl. Does dim angen gwisgo’n smart.

Emma

Iawn. Oes angen arian?

Rhian

Dw i ddim yn meddwl – mae’r noson gwis am ddim.

Emma

Ond beth am fynd i’r siop sglodion wedyn?

Rhian

Mm – efallai. Gawn ni weld.

Emma

Hwyl fawr.

Rhian

Hwyl fawr.

In this conversation, Emma asks three further questions:

  • Beth wyt ti’n mynd i wisgo? – What are you going to wear?
  • Oes arian? – Do (I) need any money?
  • Beth am fynd i’r siop sglodion wedyn? – How about going to the chip shop afterwards?

You could adapt these questions if you wanted more information when you arrange to go to an event with a friend.

Exercise

How about looking at a poster or an advertisement for an event and discussing this event with friends?
